Best Steam Deck Docks: Official Valve Dock vs Anker’s Handheld Hub
A dock turns a Steam Deck into a living-room or desk console: TV or monitor, wired controllers, Ethernet and charging in one plug. The official Valve dock does the most; Anker’s handheld hub covers the basics and also fits the original ROG Ally.

Valve model Official Valve dock · Handheld dock
Valve’s own dock has DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, supports 4K 60Hz or 1440p 120Hz with FreeSync, adds three USB-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet, and includes its power supply.
- Works with
- Steam Deck (captive USB-C cable)
- Monitors
- DisplayPort 1.4 + HDMI 2.0: up to 4K 60Hz or 1440p 120Hz, FreeSync (VRR), MST

Getting 4K 60Hz or 120Hz
For 1440p at 120Hz with variable refresh, use the Valve dock’s DisplayPort with a FreeSync monitor. On the Anker hub, Anker says 4K 60Hz needs an HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 cable under 15 feet, no HDMI-to-DisplayPort adapters, and the game set to 4K 60Hz manually.
Power
The Valve dock ships with a power supply. The Anker hub does not; Anker recommends a 45W or higher charger for stable video with a Steam Deck.
