Which one should you get?
Lots of USB devices, 10Gb networking or a DisplayPort monitor: the TS5 Plus
Ten 10Gb/s USB ports, 10GbE and a DisplayPort 2.1 socket.
Photographers with SD cards, or an older Thunderbolt 3 Mac: the OWC
A UHS-II SD reader and stated Thunderbolt 3 Mac support, with three Thunderbolt 5 ports.
Limits of this comparison
- A Mac’s chip still caps the number of monitors, whatever the dock. OWC notes Apple supports two native displays per Thunderbolt host port.
- OWC’s “eleven ports” headline doesn’t match its itemized list. No hands-on testing; prices and availability not tracked.
