Which one should you get?

More ports, faster Ethernet and up to 96W: the Thunderbolt 4 Dock

It suits a full desk with several USB devices and a wired network, and adds the most IT management features.

An HDMI monitor or TV and a small desk: the USB4 Dock

Its HDMI 2.1 port takes a TV or monitor without an adapter, and it is about half the weight.

Limits of this comparison

  • Both need a USB4/Thunderbolt 4 Surface for two 4K screens; a plain USB-C Surface gets one 4K display.
  • No hands-on testing. Prices and availability are not tracked.
